In a time of year when tensions are high and division is everywhere, it's more important than ever to remember that LOVE HAS COME. Imagine a Christmas Party where family and friends gather around the fireplace, singing, celebrating, and embracing the timeless traditions we hold dear. As our community of singers comes together in The Seeing Place, we invite our audiences to remember that Love Has Come as we all reflect on the true meaning of this magical season.

One man’s journey to find the King reveals that the greatest gift is the love we give along the way.

Welcome to our 2024 Christmas Production, The Other Wise Man, written by Erika Bain. This play is a heartfelt and reflective drama that brings new life to the classic story of Artaban, the “fourth wise man.” Artaban’s journey to find the King of Kings leads him down an unexpected path filled with sacrifice, compassion, and self-discovery.

Based on the beloved tale by Henry Van Dyke, this adaptation dives deep into timeless themes of faith, love, and the true meaning of fulfillment.

The story follows Artaban, a wise and wealthy magi, through ancient Persia, Jerusalem, and the vast deserts in between. When he sees a brilliant star in the sky, he knows it heralds the birth of a great king. With three precious gifts—a sapphire, a ruby, and a pearl—Artaban sets out to join his fellow Magi in presenting these treasures to the Christ child. However, his journey is filled with unexpected delays as he encounters people desperately needing help.

Over the years, Artaban’s quest continues, leading him to Jerusalem during Christ’s crucifixion. There, he faces the ultimate test of his faith. In a final act of selflessness, Artaban realizes that his true gift to the King was not the treasures he carried but the love and kindness he showed along the way.

The Other Wise Man is a powerful story about the human spirit and how we often fulfill our destinies in surprising ways. With rich settings and a narrative that spans decades, this play invites our cast and our audience to think about what it truly means to live a life of purpose and service. It’s a story of hope, redemption, and the light that guides us, reminding us that the journey itself, with all its challenges and sacrifices, is where we find our deepest fulfillment.
