School of the Arts

S.O.T.A.

S.O.T.A. is an after-school theater program for students aged 12-18. We meet every Wednesday and Thursday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and offer various camps and workshops throughout the year. Our program is designed for students with a passion for theater arts and vocal performance, whether they are beginners or experienced.

At S.O.T.A., our focus is on high-quality theater education, including stage movement, voice, character development, and script interpretation.

Our ultimate goal is to provide our students with an exceptional artistic education that not only enhances their theatrical skills but also equips them with practical life skills that can be applied outside of the stage.

At S. O.T.A., we value every child's distinct God-given gifts and abilities. Our classes aim to educate and guide students while demonstrating God's love for them; helping them become pillars for others. Although our focus is on producing outstanding shows with our students, our ultimate goal is to see them blossom into the individuals God intended them to be. At The Seeing Place, we strive to equip our students with the tools to see themselves, God, and others with clarity. We achieve this through music, theater, friendships, and mentorship.

Coming to School of the Arts this March

“Two households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-cross'd lovers take their life . . .”.

This March, our School of the Arts students present William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, adapted by Erika Bain. In our adaptation (suited for Upper Middle and Lower High School students), we journey into a story about young people navigating the pressures, misunderstandings, and conflicts that come with growing up. This adaptation sheds new light on the tale of two star-crossed lovers who strive to bridge the gaps between their families and their communities.

Drawing on real-life stories from our S.O.T.A. students, this version explores the challenges of being honest, open, and transparent with yourself and with those you trust while dealing with the weight of others expectations, all within a world that sometimes feels divided.

Together, we’ll bring to life Shakespeare’s heart-wrenching tragedy with an adaptation that isn’t just about the past but resonates with a renewed hope for the future.

The SPRING 2025 SESSION.

A Master Vocal Class & Concert Experience

Every great story has a hero, and every hero faces a journey.

In this master vocal class, students will explore The Hero’s Journey—a timeless story structure that reflects our own lives. Through group singing, vocal training, and personal discovery, we will learn how to find our voices both on and off the stage.

In this session, students will:

  • Learn and perform over 25 Broadway and movie musical songs in a fully staged concert.

  • Develop solid vocal technique, including finding their range, voice part, and learning to sing in harmony.

  • Discover how stories shape us, and how their own journey fits into a bigger picture.

  • The class will culminate in a fully produced concert, where students will bring their journey to life on stage, sharing the stories, struggles, and victories that make up The Hero’s Journey through the power of song.

God has given every student a unique voice, and this class is about more than just singing with confidence—it’s about helping them embrace their voice with confidence. Whether they are stepping into the spotlight for the first time or refining their skills, we want every student to leave knowing they have something valuable to share with the world.

Come discover the power of your voice and the strength of your story.
